Join us for a celebration of French cuisine and culture on Bastille Day! Kicking off the evening will be Richmond’s own cheese monger Dany Schutte! As you taste a variety of local Virginia & French cheeses, Dany will share her passion for cheese and take your knowledge of cheese to the next level. Set to the music of classic French vocalist Edith Piaf, the Latin Ballet of Virginia will recreate the opulence and theatrics of the 17thcentury French court with a performance fit for King Louis XVI himself. Once you take your seat for dinner in the cobblestone courtyard, Chef Glenn Hooper will dazzle your tastebuds with his modern take on the French classic, Coq au Vin. Grab your friends and rendezvous at Dover Hall for an unforgettable night!

 
 
 

Glenn combines his respect for classic technique with a passion for innovation to create stellar dishes that feel familiar while simultaneously challenging his guests’ palettes. He brings a wide range of culinary experiences to the MOSAIC kitchen, including classic French cuisine, fine dining and modern American restaurants. Throughout the dinner series, guests will experience his varied culinary background as he pays homage to the cuisines of the featured countries with his own modern twist.

 

The creation of classical ballet as we know it today was under the reign of King Louis XIV of France. At this time, ballet was called la belle danse, which translates to “the beautiful dance”.  Journey to 17th century France with a courtyard performance by the Latin Ballet of Virginia. The company’s passionate dancers will captivate you as they weave classic ballet technique with the sprightly theatrics of the French court, befitting the pomp and circumstance of Versailles.

Over the last decade and a half, Dany Schutte's culinary journey has taken her through Texas, California and back home to Richmond, while working for places like HEB's Central Market, Whole Foods, Ellwood Thompson's and Southern Season. In 2013, Dany tested for and achieved her Certified Cheese Professional Certification, putting her into an elite but growing set in the cheese industry. She has taught at the Virginia Wine Expo and over a dozen venues in the past four years. She brings a passion for cheese, adventurous pairings and spirit of being a Virginian to everything she does.
